Rochester Says Goodbye To A Legend
Prince Tribute at Water Street Music Hall
I had the pleasure of attending a phenomenal tribute to the artist known as Prince in Rochester, NY. I managed to get a press pass last minute(Shout out to Calton Wilcox Live). It was not a disappointment. Those who sung and those who were a part of the band delivered hit after hit, a reminder that Prince was indeed a legend. And the crowd was very energetic. Die hard Prince fans singing every word to every song performed. From “Little Red Corvette” to “Let’s Go Crazy”, the crowd cheered, swayed, remained captivated and animated.
Prince Rogers Nelson lived life “outside of the box” never conforming to societal rules. One could not help but notice that Prince dressed as he pleased. Prince and your lady may shop in the same boutiques, but, he’d still take your girl if he so desired. No one will ever replicate the “Prince Experience”. With that being said, I am happy that the tribute was PG. We were spared from any “cheeky” antics. Double entendre intended.
And I’ve got video.
The event was hosted by Yolanda Smilez. Smilez brought the laughs and a serious two-step.
Joel James said what we are all thinking. How did Prince die from the use of Percocet? James then demonstrated how safe it is to take “percs” by consuming one with his Long Island. As far as I know James is alive and well.
We have become accustomed to our artist being drug addicts but it will remain doubtful that Prince Nelson died from Percocet use or abuse.

Here is a snippet of the dapper Nate Anderson and the sultry Renee Anderson with that sequinned stunning little number on singing “Diamonds and Pearls”. Renee, please check your DM’s.
Very good rendition of “Little Red Corvette”
Carlton Wilcox covered “Purple Rain” complete with a killer guitar solo by Uncle Willie.
The Finally!! Great artists and great musicianship! Look for an update with names of everyone who took the stage.
All-in-all Rochester is full of talent. Hopefully, I can compile a plethora of events around the city so we can enjoy all there is to offer about this town. If you are having a live event let us know. Use our submission link or email us info@roctownlive.com.
