Thought Poem
Did he fire that shot? Over the horizon bent, blunt ashes hit the floor. Perplexed about what he saw, yo my man hit the deck. Two in his neck. No id, he caught a bad one from a blue badge, criminal intent, mismanaged hatred, a falsehood that is misunderstood. Education can’t save him, he tried to change legislation but the Senate will not pass the bill. The law is written to protect the law so when the gun is drawn and hits the jaw, silence ensues and the only thing we can do is sue because the blue behind bars will never come true.
Exposed, we were silenced with water hoses. Sprayed like cattle. Do you believe we had colored bathrooms, for colored only? We have taken steps but our leaders have taken their last breath. Dead on arrival. Martin was my idol, now my rival exposes the true hatred in the red, white and blue. He jokes and says if you work hard your dreams will come true, only if this were true for men with melanin. Walking with your fist raised. Where is justice and where is peace? It’s almost like the Devil had been unleashed and turn society upside down and you wonder why we frown. Static, I should have used a prophylactic, I don’t want my son to come into this world and have to ensue the chaos, Ill just keep busting them off and fill this void, the world had to much negative noise.
I’m lost in this endo smoke, bent off my mistakes, watching the world turn. I lost 365 days in a daze running this maze called life. We’ve lost mad soldiers along the way. Gun violence, hatred towards the common man. I thought we were promised land, all I see are hands of dead citizens killed, the blood stains [in] the sand. We often pray and think when will this be our final day? I often shake my head in dismay!
